Anyone can tell us about a problem on DM Tools, with or without an account. This page explains what happens when you do. DM Tools is run by one person, so we may not answer at once, but every report is read.
If someone is in danger right now, call your local emergency number: 999 in the UK, 911 in the US and Canada.
How to tell us
- In a room: open the Menu at the top right and choose Report. You can pick the picture or player you mean.
- Anywhere else: use the report page. You can also appeal a decision or make a complaint there.
- By email: write to [email protected].
What you can tell us about
- Something on the site that you think is illegal or breaks our rules.
- Something of yours that we removed, or an account we suspended or banned, if you think we got it wrong.
- Anything that makes you think we are not keeping people safe, not handling reports properly, or not respecting freedom of expression or privacy.
How long it takes
| What | When |
|---|---|
| Letting you know we have it | Straight away on screen, and by email if you gave an address |
| A child at risk, or sexual images of a child | As soon as we see it, and at once if a child is in danger |
| Intimate images shared without consent | Taken down within 48 hours of a valid request. See Remove an intimate image |
| Other reports of illegal or harmful content | Within 7 days |
| Appeals | Within 14 days |
| Complaints about how we run things | Within 30 days |
We look at the most serious reports first. Take-down is as soon as we find something should not be here.
What can happen
- We remove the content.
- We warn the person, or suspend or ban their account.
- We report it to the police or the National Crime Agency.
- We decide no rule was broken and do nothing.
If you gave us an email address, we tell you what we decided, unless you ask us not to. We cannot share details about another person. You can untick "Email me what happens" on the form, or email us at any time to stop hearing about a report.
Who gets told
We do not tell the person you report who you are, unless the law makes us. If we remove someone's content or stop their account, we normally tell them why and how to appeal. We do not tell them who reported it. We do not warn anyone when we report suspected child abuse content.
If we got it wrong
If you appeal and we agree we got it wrong, we put things back as far as we can and fix what caused the mistake. A removed picture can be restored for up to 30 days, but you may need to place it back on your maps.
We read and act on every report.
